If you're on a call with Fred
Someone on this call uses Withstead. Fred is their AI assistant. You should have heard them say so, and they should have asked whether that was alright with you. This page tells you the rest in about twenty seconds.
What Fred can do
- Listen to the call — only after you have agreed.
- Answer a factual question the other person approved in advance, such as a date or a reference number.
- Stay completely silent. That is Fred's default. He speaks only when the person you are talking to asks him to.
What Fred cannot do
- Decide anything. Fred cannot agree to terms, accept a price, confirm a date, or make an offer. If Fred appears to answer something like that, it is not an agreement — ask the person on the call to confirm it themselves.
- Record the call. Withstead does not record calls or keep call audio. A text transcript is used to write a summary for the other person and is deleted within 24 hours or when they approve it.
- Act for you. Fred works for the person who called you, not on your behalf.
- Be believed. Fred is a language model and can be wrong. Nothing Fred says is verified truth. Anything that matters should come from the human.
You can say no, and you can say stop
You do not have to agree, and saying no costs you nothing — the call continues without Fred. If you already agreed and would rather he was gone, say so: "Take Fred off" is enough, and he comes off the call.
Who is responsible
The person who called you is responsible for disclosing Fred and for getting your agreement, and they remain responsible for the call itself. Teryli Systems LLC makes the software.
